Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and Bridges

With crowns and bridges, we can protect weakened teeth and restore your smile to its original beauty. At Murieta Dental, we are pleased to offer our patients durable and aesthetic crowns and bridges which match and enhance their smiles.

When Would You Need a Crown?

Whenever a tooth has been weakened, it benefits from the protection of a crown. A crown is a tooth-shaped cap that covers all the visible parts of a tooth. It strengthens a tooth that has been weakened by a large filling or root canal therapy. It also repairs a tooth that has cracked or broken.

A crown is usually created from a type of ceramic or a combination of glass and ceramic. In some cases, a gold alloy is the best choice.

Crowns are also used for aesthetic reasons: to cover teeth that have darkened or that are irregularly shaped. At Murieta Dental, crowns can be placed in a single day.

When Would You Need a Bridge?

A bridge is a fast and relatively inexpensive method of replacing a missing tooth. It can replace one or two teeth in a row.

Like a crown, a bridge can be manufactured from ceramic or a ceramic-glass blend.

A bridge is composed of two crowns with one or more replacement teeth in the middle. To place a bridge, the teeth on either side of the gap are reshaped so the crowns will fit over them.

Both crowns and bridges are long-lasting but they need proper care, just like natural teeth do. Twice-daily brushing and daily flossing are vital, along with regular visits for professional cleaning.
